The Holiday ride of a lifetime!

I hope that you have had a great Christmas, Channukah, and Kwanzaa, but I hope you have a fabulous
Eids and New Year.

As with most major holidays I spend mine alone. Peace and quiet, too quiet at times. So I cooked a few dishes to last through the Sabbath and Christmas weekend. I found myself, literally, rolls over rolls after reducing them during my summer rides. I am not disappointed because if I look at food I explode. So while hanging out at the local Krispy Kreme's for free access since Border's is packed, I got two donuts and lots to drink. After hours of bottle-necked wi-fi boredom I took a walk around the mall, which is home to my local bike-addiction shop. It has been months since I have visited the gang and now that it's freezing and they're probably bored otu of their minds.

I arrive to find the construction is now complete and there are about seven full-on bike trainers ready for anyone to jump on and disappear into their own wonder world. Well I would love to have one, but there's not a lick of space to squeeze this puppy so I opt for a portable trainer for my rear tire and a front tire block. One word of warning when deciding to purchase a portable-trainer: a step ladder. When you attach your bike, which has a top tube, you lose that one inch crotch clearance you usually have and since the block and trainer is made to be unforgiving you can't just swing your leg over it with a little tilt.

So I tested Felty for about eight minutes because after six minutes I started to perspire a bit. My next adjustment will definitely include a new seat. So now I have my ipod, a bike-trainer, lots of Accelerade and hopefully in the future a new seat. I can now ride during this upcoming blizzard, which is covering Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Indiana. It appears to be heading into Canada, but I know we will get some of the one following behind.

So my current obsession includes loading 60 gigs worth of podcasts, music, short films and cartoons to fill my eyes and ears while churning the lactate in my legs. The bottom half will be fine, it's the handweights and mid-torso work that may be the biggest challenge. My hope is to rack massive training mileage at Bikejournal.com for TeamEstrogen. Now I understand why my LBS owner, Frank, was lamenting about needing a personal trainer to get him motivated and moving. I'm going to have to reach deep to train, but I think prayer will do just fine.

So the journey begins with me researching podcasts. I have moved me through itunes, britcaster.com, podcasts.yahoo.com, podcastpickle and my favorite podcast of all: TopofthePods.com. Rob and Jon are hilarious and I wish that Jon's Mrs.' will allow him to continue bringing joy to others after Channukah, if not maybe Mark from Tartanpodcast can become a permanent fixture via Skype. So can you tell I'm confused and addicted to technology? I'm somewhat, but I put it down during Sabbath. Now sharing after closing the Sabbath, that's another story. I've found online worship services in California, Maryland, and hopefully I'll locate some international sermons that have been translated.

Well it's time to prepare for Sabbath, then at sunset the local congregations will meet for the incoming New Year.

So please stay sober and safe, and pray for a peaceful 2006.

God Bless!
