It has been a week, even though there are a couple days left to it. For the week some items excited me to no end. Now today was the icing on the cake after leaving school. I finally had a veggie cheeseburger and a bottle of Accelerade.
That's right! The weather today was so beautiful that I pulled the bike off the trainer, worked on the tires, rear skewer and brakes, and then grabbed my seatbag, lights and computer. Quickly dressed in my winter riding outfit then added my fleece vest and Oscar The Grouch socks then out the door.
I put a few miles on the trainer, but nothing major. A leisure ride up the hills then enjoyed the looked for flats. It was beautiful, except for the soil from the local constructions!
My goal was to enjoy the ride and concentrate on the basics: get the legs working in tandem to crank out even circles. I will also have to work on my steering.
I wish there were a local streetsweeper to clear off the shoulders. Winter plowing digs up the asphalt and oiled roads, as well, people throw their trash out of vehicles.
The last couple weeks skunks, deers, squirrels and wild turkeys have been laying on the shoulders after being hit, but the town quickly grabs them up before decomposing. I hope they continue through the summer as I've met packs of joggers enjoying the lovely weather too. The items on shoulder roads can harm bike tires and especially joggers.
So get your gear ready and visit your local REI.com calendar for outdoor training classes. I've already missed the bike mechanic 101 course.
