Textamerica wants your shekel

I'm watching my favorite vidcast newshow!

The show begins with some troubling news about the site going fee-only and since I've had my barely active account since 2004 with only 60 pics I'm positive I'm not a great threat to their server. However, I have a few favorites who have thousands of pics on their TA account.

What if Cat Schwartz or Amber MacArthur do not wish to pay to continue their very popular site? If not for TA, I wouldn't be able to keep up with Cat & Keefs' wedding. Let alone the new birth of Jack, or Amber's family vacation. Nor would my family know what I see during my travels.

Now after wiping the mac clean I now have to extract and close my TA account.

...And to think I was going to load more photos. I guess flickr will be home for my jpegs.

Thanks Boing Boing!

Burn Daddy, burn....

I would like to wish all the dads, soon-to-be-dads, and the 'just found out you hit the jackpot' future dads.

Making a committment to share the rest of your life with someone, and have children is a path of great honor not many men have decided to walk down.

I wouldn't be sitting here posting in my blog it wasn't for my parents.   I think about my dad a few times a week. My thoughts running through my childhood of the special events in my life.  Such as the day he showed up at my job because he needed a ride for eye surgery.  I was a little over 17 and he made me prove to him that I could really drive. So he stuck me behind his Dodge Ram, which did not have power steering, and made me drive all the way through New Jersey to Pennsylvania. That was a four hour drive one-way, but he taught me to love driving highways just as much as he did.  I have physical memory scars of camping, and boating in Florida. I never figured how I end up sitting on my Mickey Mouse ears.

A final thought that runs through my head is my dad asking me when am I getting married and having children.  He never knew my life decision was to never partake of this institution in which he belonged.

Now as he sleeps until Christ's return I realize he was right.  It's a hard argument when you try to go toe-to-toe with a World War Veteran.  No is not an option.

Happy Father's Day to my brothers, brother-in-laws, cousins, uncles, church dads and family!

God Bless You All and Keep You!

Busy reading...trying to GTD

One of the few reasons why I have not been riding is due to a couple of my favorite podcasts and websites related to Mr. Allen's GTD. If you've been living under a rock even comedians have added GTD into their skits. Well honestly, it's no laughing matter when you receive atleast over 100, or even 300+ internal emails that require an action. Just get yourself up and come visit.

I've soaked up the first couple chapters, but now that last hundred pages are actual action steps. Things you need to do to start Getting Things Done! I've been a user of The Franklin Institute system, which is now Franklin Covey and some things have changed. Probably for the better, but why must I carry around my planner just in case? Do you know how many times I've left it on top of a car and drove off to hear it thump the rear window. No fun.

Merlin Mann of 43folders.com, I love you mann! I've put myself in the position of being a metro-technical for the time being, just to see what application will fit my character. Low-fi may be better than hi-fi for me, yet I think Apple should create a pda-ipod so that you not only can sync but insert data on the go. If I were to add my pics to flickr's whatsinyour/mybag you would find that I'm just another person who needs psychiatrist on all the gadgetry I carry. Six days a week I schlep this stuff around, but as I prepare for Sabbath just my wallet, glasses and pen holder will transfer.

Why on earth do we carry around all this junk, which sends us to the chiropractor or worse to surgery. We need to get things done so that we can lose ourselves of the attachments of this world.

Technology is why we're unable to get things done. Well, that's one of the reasons. Yet will I give up my ipod, laptop, pda, iGo cords, cds and optical mouse. Now my latest necessity to the bunch a wifi antenna to receive better wifi. All to save trees for the sake of printing on paper, yet the electricity needed to bank power for these devices when will it ever end? Sooner than you think.

No offense, but thank God I'm not a gamer because I would definitely need a Timbuk2 or Crumpler bag.

Have a safe and wonderful Sabbath, and for the rest of you have a safe weekend.

I'm singing in the rain...

Oh, wait a minute. Maybe not...

I'm actually laying on the bed listening to the flooding of the roads and trees.  An enormous rain cloud is probably flooding WV, PA and OH. All at the same time.

My hope is that it will help the trees that are extremely late blooming. Personally, my thought is that all the tearing down of trees has hindered the season cross-pollenation of some   species.  That or they do not accept acid-rain?  Why would I say such a thing, because a beautifully bloomed tree just outside my window looks as though fall is arriving.

I can hear massive construction equipment running. A farm and acres of trees torn up to finally expand an overdue two-lane artery.

What a waste..we're gonna have to buy oxygen if they keep this up.
